Welcome to the Choo Choo Barn Foundation’s 5-Week Model Train Program!
We’re excited to offer your child the chance to learn and create in our 5-week after-school model train program! In this hands-on, engaging course, students will go from designing a layout to building and detailing their very own section of a model train layout, which they’ll take home as a unique keepsake.
- Program Overview:
Each session, kids will gain new skills and add to their project, from track design to scenery details:
Track Planning and Layout Design
Kids learn the basics of track design and will sketch out their initial ideas for their layout.
Track Laying and Basic Wiring
Students lay down tracks and start learning about wiring, so their trains run smoothly.
Terrain Building and Scenery Planning
We’ll start building mountains, rivers, and other scenic features to bring their layouts to life.
Painting and Ground Cover
Kids will paint and add materials like grass and gravel for a realistic look.
Details and Final Testing
Adding the final touches—trees, buildings, and people—to make their layout a masterpiece! Then, we’ll test out their trains on the completed setup.
